Actually Demo- means people. Democracy Popular Government; People's government.

But that doesn't really change any of what you said. The fact remains that people have been striving to change an appearance to another with the same structure.

The action of demonstrating in opposition to repression is significantly different from the action of oppressing others and is significantly different from the nature of oppression.

The prior action is noble and an attempt to self-actualization while the latter is inevitably dehumanizing and will inevitably be challenged by aware masses.

If it were not for public demonstrations, slavery would still exist, Vietnam would have lasted longer and resulted in much more casualties, and you - as a Kuwaiti woman - would not have been granted suffrage.

"Within history, in concrete, objective context, both humanization and dehumanization are possibilities for a person as an uncompleted being conscious of their incompletion. But while both humanization and dehumanization are real alternatives, only the first is the people's vocation."

anon. farmer,

about what the quote said, what i am proposing is that i don't want them to be real alternatives, i want them to connect in a relation that make the first concept elastically migrates to the other.

and regarding what you first said, I cannot isolate the nature of oppression from the first two examples. it is very relevant, and what I'm always against is treating each concept with a finite definition the categorizes knowledge and drags it away from interdisciplinary perceptions.

what I'm doing is rethinking the aware masses due to their democratic perceptions.. I am pro groups demanding succession of a lost right, but there should be an understanding for a satisfactory state.

again, I am not a politician, just raising my thoughts :)

i think this is the best way to define democracy.

i got the etymology of the word "DEMOCRACY" from wiki which is:

The term is derived from the Greek: δημοκρατία - (dēmokratía) "the power to the people",[1] which was coined from δῆμος (dêmos) "people" and κράτος (krátos) "power"

i believe as long as people can communicate their opinions and ideas in a very peaceful and elegant way.. then this is how i see democracy. in that case: all the power to the people.

yet, when the general order gets obstructed by a few who think that it is the democracy that allows them to take actions into their own hands, then they should know that they are stepping over the grey and unfocused lines of order that should be defined and super clear.

what could increase the beauty of this democracy is the actions that should be taken afterwards to adress the causes and reasons for those demonstrations and enhance the environment to the masses.

any unbalancing acts that adds to the formula, could lead to the de-democratizing of the society.

Miss Deema,

I did not mean for my comment to sound philosophical since this is a humanitarian issue.

So I will re-phrase my initial comment:

Down with the government, up with the people.
